Mr. Joseph Pethel
Welcome to The Tribe!
Mr. Pethel is thrilled to begin his tenure as principal of Armuchee High School, where he is a proud alumnus. After graduating from AHS in 2000 he attended Berry College and graduated with the class of 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education. He then received his master's and educational specialist degrees from Jacksonville State University in 2008 and 2012 respectively. Mr. Pethel began his career in education at Adairsville Middle School, where he taught physical education from 2004-2013 and was assistant principal from 2014-2017. He served as assistant principal at Armuchee Elementary school from 2017-2019 and principal of Coosa Middle School from 2019-2022. Mr. Pethel is committed to serving all stakeholders as Armuchee High School strives to create excitement and opportunity for all!

Mr. Nick Elliott
Assistant Principal/Grades 6-8
Mr. Elliott is entering his 1st year as assistant principal of Armuchee High School. Before coming to AHS to serve as the assistant principal for grades 6-8, Mr. Elliott served for two years as the assistant principal at Armuchee Elementary School.
"Coach" Elliott has also spent the last several years serving in the Armuchee community as a teacher and coach at Armuchee Elementary and Armuchee Middle. Mr. Elliott began his career in education in Butts County as a teacher and coach at Jackson Elementary and Jackson High School. In 2015, Mr. Elliott moved to Rome City Schools as a teacher at Main Elementary and coached football and wrestling at Rome High and Rome Middle. He then made the move to Armuchee Elementary as a teacher and head football coach at Armuchee Middle. Kayla, his wife, is the media specialist at Armuchee Elementary and they have three wonderful daughters. Raelyn is going into 7th grade and their identical twins, Lola and Mia, are 5 years old.

I am so excited and honored for this opportunity to serve in this role at Armuchee High School. I am a graduate of Armuchee High School and have spent my entire career at Armuchee High School, so this opportunity is truly a special one. Being able to lead and serve at the place that molded me and led me to where I am today is a dream come true.
I am married to my husband Cliff and we have 2 daughters Evey and Charleigh. I taught biology for 20 years, have been the academic interventionist for 4 and now in my 25th year of education as the AP.
